Trip OverviewThe mountains, coastline and wildlife of Western Canada. "Beautiful
British Columbia" the number plates say, and not without good reason.
The Rockies are the most stunning of several ranges of mountains, with more
than a hundred glaciers and countless lakes to complement the big peaks.
The valleys are rich with wildlife, and we have a good chance of spotting
black and grizzly bear, elk, deer, moose and coyote. The coast is one of
the richest marine habitats in the world, where grey, killer and, occasionally,
humpback whales can be seen, as well as seals and some remarkable twenty-four-armed
sunburst starfish. Bald eagles and humming birds are among the rich birdlife.
For many people the highlight of the trip will be the overnight sea kayak
expedition on Clayoquot Sound. We will also have time to walk the ancient
rainforests of Vancouver Island. Optional activities are riding in cowboy
country, white water rafting in the Rockies or mountain biking at Whistler.
