Trip Overview

The excitement of canoeing in Turkey's Koprulu Canyon and hiking amid the stunning natural beauty of the Lycian Mountains, is combined with the equally striking landscapes of Cappadocia, Pamukkale and two wonderful nights on a traditional gulet.

If you love the whole concept of travel. Getting there is as much fun as being there and you love using public transport, local restaurants and small family run hotels where you get the best chance to really get under the skin of a destination. You love the sometimes tough but ultimately rewarding nature of adventure travel and you love spending more time enjoying every experience rather than wasting time on travel arrangements.

Itinerary & Departure Dates

Day 1 Istanbul. Arrival day. No meals.
Day 2 Istanbul. A full free day to visit the famous sites like St Sofia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Cistern Basilica. In the evening we board the overnight train to Ankara. (B)
Day 3 Ankara - Cappadocia. Visit Ataturk's Mausoleum in Ankara then continue via the salt flats of Tuz Golu to Cappadocia where we visit the underground city of Kaymakli. In the evening we have the chance to take a Turkish bath. (B)
Day 4 Cappadocia. A full morning hiking in the spectacular valleys of the region. Free afternoon for you to explore at your leisure. Optional folklore show this evening. (B)
Day 5 Konya - Koprulu Canyon. Visit Konya, home of the Whirling Dervishes, en route to Beskonak. (BD)
Day 6 Canoeing / Rafting. Full morning on the Koprulu River. You can chose between canoeing or rafting as our group negotiates the waters. In the afternoon we drive to Olympos where we stay in tree houses! (BLD)
Day 7 Kas- Kalkan - Village. Today we visit the picturesque towns of Kas and Kalkan before driving to Minara village where we stay with a Turkish Family. (BD)
Day 8 Trekking. Trek to the ruins of Pinara for a picnic lunch. Overnight in a small mountain house at Kara Agac. (BLD)

Day 9 Trekking - Olu Deniz - Gulet. We follow a beautiful mountain trail down to the most famous beach in Turkey at Olu Deniz. A short drive takes us to Fethiye where we board our gulet. (BD)
Day 10 Gulet Cruise. Our cruise takes us to some of the most beautiful bays around Fethiye and Gocek. (BL)
Day 11 Pamukkale - Selcuk. Disembark after breakfast. Continue to Pamukkale where there is time to see the calcified falls and ancient Hierapolis. Later we drive to Selcuk. (B)
Day 12 Ephesus. A full free day to visit the amazing ruins at Ephesus and to explore the picturesque winding streets of Selcuk. (B)
Day 13 Bergama - Gallipoli. We stop in the historic town of Bergama for lunch before heading for Gallipoli. (B)
Day 14 Istanbul. Morning visit to the war memorials at Gallipoli. Afternoon drive to Istanbul.(B)
Day 15 Istanbul. Tour ends
