Trip Overview

Chamonix & Mont Blanc. From Geneva, we drive to Les Praz village in the beautiful Chamonix Valley and begin walking the Mont Blanc trails. Contouring along the ’Petit Balcon’, we then climb to several high passes including the Col de Tricot and the Col du Bonhomme. Six days are spent in this delightful area and we enjoy superb close up views of the Mont Blanc massif (4807m).
Matterhorn & Monte Rosa. We drive on to Aosta and camp nearby. Then, travelling by bus and cable-car, climb to Plateau Rosa station (3480m), marking the high Italian-Swiss frontier. The glacier here is sufficiently level in summer for us to walk across to the town of Zermatt. Our route affords exceptional views of the Matterhorn (4478m) and Monte Rosa (4634m). If time permits, we can take short or long walks nearby, or various excursions, like the cog railway to Gornergrat. Bernese Oberland. From Kanderstegg we ascend the Hohturli Pass (2776m) for our first real views of the Bernese Oberland. We suggest riding the Swiss mountain train which rounds the Eiger and offers classic views of the Jungfrau (4158m). Finally we enjoy a day’s walking and sightseeing around Lauterbrunnen. A fully supported trek through the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. The tour is only suitable for experienced walkers as the trek is graded as strenuous with many steep sections. The scenery is superb with wonderful views of many major peaks. Bring a sleeping bag and mat.
