Day 1: Hanoi Hanoi
is a charming city with tree-lined boulevards, French architecture
and quaint cafes. The seething markets and atmospheric Old Quarter
make for a shoppers' paradise.
Days 2 - 4: Cat Ba Island offers a day lazing on the
beach, watching the activity in the busy harbour or exploring
the national park. Cruise around spectacular limestone peaks
in Halong Bay on board our private boat.
Day 5: Hua Shan Travelling north into China, the hills begin
to rise on the way to the tiny riverside village of Hua Shan.
A huge cliff fresco depicts farmers, hunters and animals, painted
by the ancestors of the Zhuang minority some 2000 years ago.
Day 6: Guilin Time to leave the Zuo River to join the locals
travelling to the city of Guilin, famous throughout China for
its stunning scenery.
Days 7 - 8: Chengyang Exquisite Dong minority 'wind and
rain' bridges cross the waterways between traditional wooden
houses while waterwheels lazily flood the glistening paddy fields.
Days 9 - 10: Longji Brilliant emerald
rice terraces twist and climb the hills at Longji, the 'Dragon's
Backbone'. Wooden villages of the Zhuang and long haired Yao minorities
dot the hillsides with tiny stone paths meandering between.
Days 11 - 13: Yangshou As the Li River winds its way
through the spectacular limestone karsts of Yangshuo, step into
the realm of classical Chinese painting. Ancient villages, delicate
bridges, local markets and gorgeous countryside make Yangshuo
a special spot.
Days 14 & 15: Hong Kong Otherwise known as 'Fragrant Harbour',
Hong Kong is an exhilarating city where traditions such as the
old Star Ferry survive and flourish. Eat, shop and enjoy the excitement
of this city's unique fusion of east and west.
