This was the trip that started it all for Intrepid, and it remains one of our most popular. Northern Thailand is one of the greatest adventure destinations on the planet and we make the most of it - amongst the hilltribes, on the rivers and in the villages. We think you will love this Intrepid favourite as much as others have.

Day 1 - 2:
Bangkok. Between the chaotic city streets and serene canals,
explore different parts of this lively capital.
Day 3: Kanchanburi. Visit the JEATH war museum and see the
Bridge over the River Kwai before heading to Erawan National
Park for a swim in the seven level waterfalls.
Days 4 - 5: Rice Barge Cruise. Laze on the deck of our
award winning converted teak rice barge, pedal through the Thai
countryside and enjoy the World Heritage-listed temples of Ayuthaya.
Days 6 -7: Chiang Mai. The temple of Doi Suthep provides
an excellent view and a little exercise, while the night market
is fun and a great place to get local food. Enjoy an elephant
ride, take the chance to cool off in the river or indulge in
a traditional Thai massage.
Day 8: Village homestay. Staying in a local home offers the
chance to experience the quiet village life for a day, living
as the locals do.
Days 9 - 11: Hilltribe
Trek. Trekking for three days through remote hilltribe villages,
experience the diversity of ethnic minority customs and traditions.
Days 12 - 13: Golden Triangle. Staying overnight in both
Chiang Rai and the colourful border town of Mae Sai offers a
great way to explore the infamous opium growing Golden Triangle.
Check out the Opium Museum or experience a fastboat ride down
the Mekong River.
Days 14 - 15: Bangkok. Another full day in Bangkok completes
our exciting adventure, with many places like Chatuchak market
still left to explore.
