Itinerary

Day 01: You will depart early morning and proceed to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Shortly after leaving Nairobi , the vast panorama of the Great Rift Valley opens before your eyes, and there are splendid stopping places from which to photograph this entrancing spectacle. We cross the valley floor to Narok, a small Maasai town, before entering the Masai Mara. Afternoon is at leisure to rest before your evening game drive. Dinner and overnight are spent at the Mara Serena Lodge.

Note: As this safari departs in the morning you may need one pre-tour night in Nairobi. Or ask your agent about starting your trip with a 3-day beach stay at Lamu Island , Kenya ’s best-kept secret. A great option as it allows you time to adjust to the time difference. B L D

Day 02: 0630 hrs you will have an early morning game drive in the reserve, being the best time to spot animals while they are still active. An optional early morning balloon ride can be arranged for you – ask your Travel agent. Return to the lodge for breakfast and spend the morning and afternoon at leisure – an optional visit to a Masai village can be arranged as well. An afternoon game drive and dinner at the lodge are on the evening’s agenda. B L D

Day 03: After breakfast, we drive back to Nairobi in time for lunch. After lunch we continue through the scenic Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru Lion Hill Lodge is set on a plateau according a panoramic view of the pink colored shores of the lake from your private verandah. You will have an afternoon game drive in this park, which is known world over as the greatest ornithological spectacle! The lake attracts thousands of lesser and greater flamingos. Not only does this lake boast of being a bird’s paradise, it is also a rhino sanctuary for the highly endangered black and white rhinos. Other animals found here include cheetahs, leopards, lions, waterbucks, zebras, gazelles, and giraffe amongst others. B L D

Day 04: After breakfast drive to Samburu Game Reserve with an enroute stopover at Nyahururu Falls. Lunch and leisurely afternoon are spent at the Samburu Serena Safari Lodge. Samburu Serena lodge is situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River , capturing the earthly rhythms of riverfront life. The flavor is rustic but sophisticated. Guest rooms overlook the river where crocodiles feed in full view and it is in Samburu where we have the best chance to spot the elusive leopard. An afternoon game drive will be provided, returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at the Serena. B L D

Day 05: This day will be spent exploring the reserve, a noble opportunity to experience the hot and dry weather of this Northern Frontier reserve. This reserve is renowned for its unusual wildlife including the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Gerenuk, and Somali Ostrich. An early evening game drive is recommended with the evening sun providing a wonderful backdrop to the animals going about their daily lives, especially on the hunt. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. Day 6: We depart in the morning for the drive to the Mount Kenya National Reserve, housing Africa ’s second highest mountain. Check in at the Serena Mountain Lodge in time for your lunch, dinner and overnight. The only ‘tree hotel’ ever to be built on the slopes of Mount Kenya, Serena Mountain Lodge offers a matchless game viewing opportunity while combining a glorious panorama of mountain vistas with the primordial splendors of an ancient rainforest.  Day 07: After your breakfast, we drive back to Nairobi arriving just before lunch. You will be transferred to the airport or, if time allows, extra optional excursions within Nairobi can be done before your transfer to the airport after a wonderful safari. B
